Texturing of surfaces

Surface texturing with ultra-short pulse lasers is an innovative technology that allows to apply different textures and predefined patterns of very high precision to different kinds of surface.

The created patterns by the interaction of laser pulses with the surface modify their structural, functions and visual properties. Hence, hydrophilic surfaces can become hydrophobic or reflective surfaces can become opaque just by a simple laser treatment.

The process can be used on different types of materials with simple or complex shapes.

Description :

  • Surface texturing for functionalization
  • Marking (surface or solid (transparent materials)), ablation (thin layers)
  • At the micronic, submicronic and nanometric scales
  • Machining of small patterns up to 10 µm or less
  • Contactless and forceless process

 

Materials:

  • Metals: steel, stainless steel, cast iron, copper, gold, titanium, platinum, bronze, aluminum …
  • Ceramics: silicon, quartz, glass, porcelain, dentin …
  • Polymers: PTFE, PP, Nafion …

 

Functionalization of surfaces:

  • Hydrophobic or super-hydrophobic (contact angle greater than 160 °)
  • Hydrophilic or super-hydrophilic
  • SuperWicking (high velocity and gravity capillarity)
  • Self-cleaning surface, antifreeze

 

Metal coloring, iridescence:

  • Gray, dark and black coloring
  • Iridescence by micro and nanotexturing

 

Engraving / marking:

  • Unfalsifiable marking on all products, surface and volume
  • Ablation of electrodes
  • Marking on and within materials (QR code, holograms, logo)

 

Improved surface tribology:

  • Reduction of friction and wear up to 50%
  • Endurance improvement of a surface up to 30%
