MIMEDI

FEDER MiMédi Project

FEMTO Engineering is partner in this project to create an automated platform for the production of innovative drugs.

This research project, for a total amount of €15,044,279.35, financed by the FEDER funds for an amount of €11,283,209.47, brings together 10 partners, public and industrial, takes place over 5 years and 1 month, from 2017 to 2022.

The objective of this project is to realize a demonstrator allowing to modulate an “universal” bioreactor for the creation of innovative drugs.

The production costs of these Medi (Innovative Medicines), used in the treatment of cancers, inflammatory diseases and autoimmune diseases are currently too high to access the market. Medi are biological drugs, as opposed to chemical drugs. We are talking about drug cells or cell therapy or gene therapy. Currently, their production is not automated and is constrained by the need for a clean room environment for production.

Project perspectives:

  • Reduce production time by reducing control analysis time
  • Improve manual steps by automating them
  • Evolve the current regulations which are not adapted to medicines (obligation to irradiate medicines at the end of production).
