ULISS and the European Space Agency in Argentina
You are here
The world record for stability obtained with ULISS, the best cryogenic sapphire oscillator available on the market. It guarantees a relative stability of less than 3x10-15 in integration time from the second to the entire day.
In 2012 ULISS was installed in Malargue, Argentina, at the latest sun-station to be constructed by the European Space Agency.
This station is equipped with a 35 mm diameter antenna weighing 6 tons and is part of the Deep Space Program (guidance of space probes as far as 2 million kms from the Earth). It now completes an antenna network previously installed at New Norcia, Australia and Cebreros, Spain.
Most notably, it ensures the guidance of the ExoMars probe which studies the conditions for life on Mars.
